What People's Say About Place

I met my wife for lunch, and the food was amazing! We arrived right at 11:00, and had personal service from the owner. The seasonings and flavors are authentic, the portions were very large and we had plenty to bring home. If you're looking for authentic food with flavors this is a place to try out. We had the chicken shawarma wrap, lamb loin kabobs, and Khav drink. Very good. I do recommend.

My husband and I moved to Springfield from Atlanta, and we have been craving middle eastern cuisine. Charcoal Grill House hit all the flavors we were looking for. Spiced tomatoes with dressed cabbage, grape and apple juice made in house, hot and juicy lamb, and a scrumptious khachapuri. We ate every bite, and we loved the owner and the family. Such kind hearted people wanting to share such beautiful flavors with the people of Springfield. Food made with the heart!

Me and my wife came here for our date night. The food was delicious and the owner was super nice. I love their pelmeni and their lamb kabobs. The tomato salad was very good. The service was very good. Me and my wife will come back for date night

A wonderful, authentic Armenian restaurant! We ate here for lunch and there were quite a few other patrons as well. The shurma, is similar to shawarma we have had in Middle East, but it included more finely sliced cabbage, carrots, and cucumbers. So delicious! It was fresh and definitely something you could split with another person for lunch. We also ordered the khachapuri as this was a new dish for me. It takes some time to prepare and bake, so be patient if you order. The dish was hot, steamy, and full of cheese, and meat (I ordered the lamb). The pastry was chewy and perfect combo of hard on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. The baklava was great too, as was the friendly owner. I hope Springfield appreciates this little gem. So happy we ate here and excited to come back.

A wonderful first experience trying Armenian food. We went with the lamb shawarma and chicken shish kebab, paired with kvass and paklava. The sauce and salad in the shawarma really made it taste unique, unlike other lamb wraps. The shish kebab was flavorful and succulent, served on a bed a creamy rice. I wish I could buy the kvass by the gallon because it is very refreshing. But best of all was the service. The wait staff was attentive and generous, offering some wonderful recommendations. Give this place a try, you will not regret it!

I and two others tried the Charcoal Grill House for the first time today and were so pleasantly impressed. The staff were friendly and eager to please. I ordered the grape flavored Kvas to drink after being offered a sample. It is a fruit juice based fermented beverage similar to kombucha but without the harsh tang typical of kombuchas and a light fresh grape flavor. Please be aware that both the Kvas and our waters were served without ice, in typical Armenian fashion, which we enjoyed as they were still cool in temperature, but not as cold as most iced drinks to which Americans are accustomed. Our meal started with an order of one Tomato Salad and one Cabbage Salad. Both were delightful due to both the freshness of the vegetables and the choice of seasonings. The serving sizes were plenty for sharing between the three of us. One of the guest I dined with rarely eats salads but we were passing the salad dishes back to him for seconds on both the tomato and the cabbage salads. For main dishes we had one order of the Lamb Loin Kebab, one order of the Chicken Kebab and one Chicken Shurma (sp "Shawarma") wrap. Every one of our main entrees was delicious! The Chicken Shurma I would liken to an Armenian burrito or gyro. It contained chicken, cabbage, cucumber, tomato, onion and a creamy sauce (similar to greek tzatziki sauce) all wrapped in a type of Armenian flatbread. The Lamb and Chicken Kebabs were perfectly cooked, tender, moist and seasoned just right, without over powering the flavor of the charcoal grilled meat. The Kebabs were served on a large Armenian flatbread, which by itself is nothing special but once it has soaked up the flavor filled meat juices after a while was a not-to-be-missed portion of the meal. Our meals came with sides of perfectly cooked white rice seasoned with butter and herbs. We all agreed it was some of the best white rice we have had - maybe it was because of the added butter - but how often have you heard white rice complimented? We finished our meal with a few servings of the different Armenian Baklavas they have, which we split among us. Wow, they were good and a perfect ending for our overall exceptional experience! The menu prices may be a bit higher than you may expect at first but the portions are big (I would say couple-family sized) and the quality is also definitely there with the quantity. We had enough to take home for another small one-person meal. The menu is a bit limited in offerings but the restaurant just recently opened and the choices listed won't disappoint. The atmosphere and service is not swanky but more of a relaxed and a casual Armenian west-asian or east-european vibe. Not lacking by any means but it helps to take it all as part of the enjoyable culinary experience. I would like to add that overall the food choices are quite healthy too, from the fermented probiotic benefits of the Kvas to the fresh salads and grilled meats.

Excellent Food. It’s lovely to see Armenian food in Springfield, which has some overlaps with Ukrainian, Middle Eastern and Georgian food l. The hot khachupuri was fabulous - recommend getting the classic style and then when it’s delivered, mix the egg into the hot cheese (a Georgian restaurant in DC taught us that but our waiter didn’t mention it). Dough was yeasty and delicious. The lamb shwarma and the square pastry shura was delicious. Next time we will get the kvas and the pelmini (the table across from us got those items and looked amazing). Excellent flavors. Please visit!
